In order to ensure a proper fit and the maximum level of comfort, some patients require minor oral surgical procedures before receiving a partial or complete denture. Because a denture sits on the bone ridge, it is very important that the bone is the proper shape and size. Extracting a tooth could leave the underlying bone sharp and uneven, which would need to be smoothed out or reshaped for an optimum fit. Any excess bone or excess gum tissue would also need to be removed prior to denture insertion, and impacted teeth would need to be examined and possibly removed.
We will review your particular needs with you during your appointment.
